Geraldine Ferraro was a New York City teacher and lawyer. In 1974 she joined the Queen's County District Attorney's Office. There she headed the new Special Victims Bureau. In 1978 she was elected to the House. There she grew rapidly in the party hierarchy. In 1984 she was selected by Walter Mondale to be his running mate in the upcoming election. They were defeated in a landslide by incumbent President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George H. W. Bush. She died on March 26th in 2006.
Sandra Day O'Connor is a retired United States Supreme Court justice. She was the first woman to be appointed to Court. Prior to her time in the Supreme Court she served as the first female majority leader in the U.S. as the Republican leader in the Arizona Senate. She was considered a federalist and was regarded as having the swing opinion in most cases.

Nancy Reagan was very instrumental in the Just Say No! campaign. The campaign was started to discourage children from engaging in illegal recreational drug use. Nancy traveled throughout the U.S. visiting drug rehabilitation centers and abuse prevention programs. She also appeared on talk shows and recorded public service announcements. In 1985 she expanded the campaign internationally.
